How we work it out

  • Per female joined: each % = the count ÷ females joined × 100. So 560 lambs from 500 ewes is 112%.
  • Losses: scanned − marked (as a % of scanned), and marked − weaned (as a % of marked).
  • Target: target % × females joined − young marked = how many more you’d need.

Some people work percentages per female that gave birth, or per female scanned in young - we use females joined, the most common way, so compare like with like. It’s arithmetic on your own counts, not a benchmark. Your vet or livestock adviser can help if losses look high. Nothing you type is stored or sent anywhere.
