Weight gain calculator

Two weighings are all it takes: see how many kilos a day your stock are putting on, what the whole mob gained and how long until they reach your target weight.

How we work it out

  • Daily gain: (latest weight − first weight) ÷ days between. So 280 kg to 340 kg in 60 days is 1 kg a day.
  • Days to target: (target − latest weight) ÷ daily gain, rounded up - assuming they keep growing at the same rate.
  • Value: kg gained × your own c/kg ÷ 100. 1 lb = 0.4536 kg.

Growth rarely stays the same: feed, season, weather and how full the stock were when weighed all change it, so weigh them the same way each time (for example after the same time off feed and water). This is arithmetic on your own numbers, not a benchmark or a price guide. Your vet or livestock adviser can help with growth targets. Nothing you type is stored or sent anywhere.
